Unbind or Replace a Gateway

Unbind a gateway when it was assigned to the wrong vessel or when a vessel needs a replacement appliance.

Unbind a gateway​

  1. Open Edge gateway management.
  2. Find the active vessel and gateway assignment.
  3. Choose Unbind.
  4. Review the vessel and gateway serial.
  5. Confirm the action.

Unbinding immediately stops recording, AI inference, live streaming, heartbeat, and every upload lane. Work already captured for the former binding stays isolated under that binding and cannot be processed or uploaded as a later vessel.

The gateway keeps its certified identity and permanent commissioned credential. If it remains powered on, it waits for a new assignment and proves the new claim automatically. Connect it from Edge gateway management with its serial; do not generate a new FT-code. An FT-code is needed only for first commissioning, or after an explicit retirement/recommissioning action revoked the credential.

Cancel a pending assignment​

If pairing has not completed, choose Cancel pairing on the gateway card. A canceled or expired assignment cannot become active. Start a new assignment with the correct vessel and serial.

Replace a physical gateway​

  1. Ask an authorized platform operator to suspend or retire the returned appliance.
  2. Confirm that the replacement appliance has its own certified serial and identity.
  3. Unbind the returned gateway from the vessel.
  4. Follow Add an Edge Gateway using the replacement serial.
  5. Wait for registration, connection, and camera readiness.

Never copy a returned gateway identity or credential to replacement hardware. Audit history retains the former vessel assignment and replacement action.

Before deleting a vessel​

Fishtube rejects vessel deletion while the vessel has a pending gateway assignment, active binding, or member assignment. Cancel or unbind the gateway and remove member assignments first.
